Week 31's photo of the week is a little different from normal. It's actually a photo of a drawing. One Sunday 5th August I went along to the Bellarine Kids Expo, here in Barwon Heads, Victoria, and held my first ever market stall! As you could imagine, there were a lot of nerves and sleepless nights involved, but the day was a huge success and loads of fun. The lead up to the Expo was very busy for me and I had my husband quite involved in helping me. Our lounge room was set up as a market stall for the week before hand and each of my three daughters certainly made their opinions known!!
On the morning of the Expo, as I was rushing around getting ready and finalising things, my 5 year old, Molly, presented me with a drawing. It wasn't just any drawing - it was an exact replica of my market stall (the one that had been set up in the lounge room for the past week!). As Molly gave it to me, it certainly made me stop and appreciate the fact that my first market also affected my kids, and their encouragement was perhaps the loudest and most supportive!
Here is the gorgeous drawing that now takes pride of place above my desk:
I love how Molly even added a sun in the picture (a standard for all of her drawings!) even though it was an indoor Expo! The detail she included amazes me though - my Eiffel Tower prop on a vintage suitcase, the green shabby chic chair, Maggie my mannequin - it's spot on! I would love to know where those pink high heels are in my wardrobe too :)
Last week it was my nephews birthday. He lives in London so we don't get to see him that often, but we still love to celebrate the birthday's of all of our nieces and nephews who we don't get to see - my girls have 5 cousins and 3 of them live overseas! So on Lachie's birthday we baked him a cake and decorated it with smarties in the shape of an 'L'. Just as I was about to take this photo of the girls with Lachie's cake, little Miss Ruby decided to stick her finger in it! Perfect!!
Lucky for us it still tasted great!
